VET Student Loans
Government loan scheme to help eligible students pay for higher-level VET qualifications.
What are VET Student Loans?
VET Student Loans help eligible students enrolled in approved higher-level VET qualifications pay their tuition fees. Like HECS-HELP for university students, VET Student Loans allow you to defer all or part of your tuition fees and repay your loan through the tax system once your income reaches the repayment threshold.
Eligibility Requirements
Citizenship
- Australian citizen
- Holder of a permanent humanitarian visa who is resident in Australia
Course Requirements
- Enrolled in an approved Diploma or above qualification
- Course must be with an approved provider
Academic Suitability
- Must demonstrate academic suitability
- Meet course-specific entry requirements
Unique Student Identifier
- Must have a valid USI (Unique Student Identifier)
- Apply for a USI at usi.gov.au
Approved Courses for VET Student Loans
The following Hammond Institute courses may be eligible for VET Student Loans:
- đCHC50121 â Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
- đCHC52021 â Diploma of Community Services
Important Information
â ī¸ Census Date
Be aware of the census date for each study period. After the census date, you will incur a VET Student Loan debt for that period, even if you withdraw from the course.
âšī¸ Loan Limit
There is a lifetime loan limit for VET Student Loans. Check with the Department of Education for current limits.
